A familiar face is cropping up in Genoa City again when Mishael Morgan returns to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as Amanda Sinclair! The actress broke the news with a fun Instagram post featuring a backstage video panning down a garment bag to reveal a wardrobe bag with a tag reading “Mishael Morgan” and “Amanda” then quickly panned up to her beautiful smiling face as she waved at the camera. “Guess who’s popping in for a visit!” she exclaimed.
Morgan first appeared on Y&R in 2013 as Hilary Curtis, and although the character was killed off in 2018, the actress returned to the soap in 2019 as Amanda, who was revealed to be Hilary’s long-lost twin sister. And in 2022, Morgan became the first black woman to win the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work on the show.
In November 2022, Morgan left Y&R again (after Amanda caught Devon and Abby having sex on the couch!) but promised fans at the time that she would still pop back for visits occasionally. The first was in March 2023 as part of the soap’s 50th-anniversary celebration when Amanda represented Chancellor-Winters against Devon’s attempt to take Hamilton-Winters back.
Since exiting Y&R to pursue other opportunities, Morgan has found great success, playing Dr. Petra Dupre on CHICAGO MED as well as starring in the TV movies Sworn Justice: Taken Before Christmas, Christmas With a Kiss, and Dress for Success.
While there has been no indication of what might bring Amanda back to the canvas again, Lauralee Bell (Christine) commented on her Instagram post to declare: “So happy to see your beautiful face today.” So either the actresses just ran into each other backstage or else Amanda and Christine could be facing off in court again!
Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) was also excited to see Morgan back on set, snapping a picture with her gal pal you can see at the top of this article, and captioning it: “Super homies.” There has been no air date announced for Amanda’s return, so keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for updates!
