Peter Bergman Reveals Jack’s True Love on Y&R (EXCLUSIVE)

Over the years, Jack Abbott has had many different romances on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, but has he ever found true love? “Oh, yeah,” portrayer Peter Bergman declared to Soaps In Depth. “I think the real truth is that Jack has had a number of true loves. I think Jack dives in face-first and that has been his problem. He is completely totally smitten and doesn’t do all the work to moderate that, to build on that. He thinks he can stay the same and love somebody like that.”

Unfortunately, as history has proven, that hasn’t worked out very well for Jack. But there are some women in his life who will always hold a special place in his heart as long as he lives. “Jack was very much in love with Nikki at one point,” Bergman mused. “And the fact that he could not, in the end, have her is something he carries with him all the time. Any time you see Jack alone in a room with Nikki, he’s well aware that that was one of his great loves.”

However, while Jack may have accepted losing Nikki, there’s a certain redhead that he still hasn’t gotten over… and we’re not talking about Sally! “Phyllis, I would say, was the great love of Jack’s life,” Bergman confided. “He gave himself completely totally to that. And truth be told, it can well be said that Jack and Phyllis did not fall out of love with each other. It just became too painful. The Victor stuff, the Marco stuff, the Billy stuff… all just too painful. And they had to walk away.”

But as recent episodes of Y&R have shown, Phyllis and Jack are still drawn to each other. She even broke off her relationship with Nick, but getting back together with Jack is proving to be a very complicated matter. Still, in soaps, you never know what twists and turns might be just around the corner. A reunion may still be in the cards!

“There is no one in Genoa City who knows Jack better than Phyllis and the reverse is true,” Bergman insisted. “No one. They have been through far too much together. I love Nicholas and Phyllis together and there are fun things there, but Jack and Phyllis went through so much together. There’s no one in town that knows the other better than Jack or Phyllis.”
