Sean Dominic Previews What’s Next for Nate and Elena on Y&R (EXCLUSIVE)
Nate Hastings has always been a stand-up guy, but sleeping with Elena on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS may be a mistake he’ll never be forgiven for! “It’s fascinating because most of what we’ve seen of Nate was smart decisions, helping people out, giving advice,” portrayer Sean Dominic admitted to Soaps In Depth with a laugh. “This is a time he wasn’t really thinking. He was only thinking of himself.”
Despite trying to date Amanda, it was Elena who was always in Nate’s heart from the moment they met. “There was nothing wrong with Amanda,” Dominic insisted. “I just think even before Amanda came around there was a tingle with Nate about Elena. There was just this connection and this chemistry that he had with her that he didn’t have with Amanda.”
And after Nate and Elena slept together, the clock started ticking on when this particular secret was going to come out and unfortunately, Elena’s guilt caused her to come clean without giving Nate a heads-up first! “She confesses to Devon by herself and so Nate just has no clue, pretty much,” the actor chuckled. “I just wish Elena waited and told Nate before she just blurted out what happened!”
Now that the truth of Elena and Nate’s betrayal has been revealed, there may be no way for the good doctor to salvage any of these relationships. “It’s kind of the ultimate betrayal for family,” Dominic mused. “To do that to his cousin… Nate is in limbo right now. Because how do you start to say, ‘I’m sorry?’ But underneath that, he really does have feelings for Elena.”
Despite how everything has played out, the actor says Nate believes he and Elena could have a future once the dust settles. “I think so, eventually,” Dominic confided. “Even though what they did was wrong, he still thinks it can happen because Nate believes she feels the same way. Deep down in his heart. But knows she’s conflicted because of how it looks and who she was with.”
One thing’s for sure — no matter how the storyline unfolds, Dominic is excited to see what happens next. “I’d like to see where we go with Nate,” he declared. “How does Nate redeem himself with his family? It’s interesting. It opens up a big road for me.”
