Sharon Case Opens up About Her Real-Life Relationship With Mark Grossman
Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that despite current COVID protocols, Sharon and Adam have gotten awful close on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. And that is because Sharon Case and Mark Grossman are a real-life couple! “Yeah,” Case confirmed during an appearance on 90210MG, the podcast hosted by Jeannie Garth and Tori Spelling (who admitted to being a big fan of Y&R and Nick and Sharon!). “I mean, we’ve never talked about it so bluntly, but I guess the reason why we finally mentioned it to the studio is just so that we wouldn’t have to distance in case the show wanted to write us in scenes together.”
Case, while discussing the two episodes of BEVERLY HILLS 90210 in which she appeared, also fielded questions from Garth and Spelling about Y&R and if it was true that the actors couldn’t kiss on-screen because of the strict COVID protocols. “Yeah, we’re still not allowed to touch or kiss,” Case confirmed. “We have to stand six feet apart. But if you are acting with someone who you in real-life quarantine with, which is the case with me, we can touch or kiss.”
Fans who follow Case and Grossman on social media have already noticed the pair showing up in each other’s Instagram pics, from celebrating birthdays to taking a trip to Canada. And they alerted the Y&R bosses to their relationship so that it could be kept in mind when staging episodes. Like how real-life couple Bryton James (Devon) and Brytni Sarpy (Elena) have been able to have intimate scenes on the soap without resorting to body doubles or creative camera work.
“At least there would be some people that you would see on screen not having to distance all the time,” Case shared. “Because I know some of our viewers are kind of complaining that it’s just not the same when people don’t stand together, you never see them kissing…”
Right now, Sharon and Adam have only shared one illicit kiss, but who knows what the future may hold? Sharon’s married to Rey, and currently working with Nick to help support Faith, but with the COVID protocols still in place, Y&R might yet take advantage of Case and Grossman’s real-life relationship to have Sharon and Adam give in to passion once again!
