There will be a new Amanda on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, but only temporarily! Due to Mishael Morgan’s eye injury that required emergency surgery, Karla Mosley (ex-Maya, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) will be stepping in for a brief run as Morgan recovers. Look for her to make her first appearance on Monday, April 26. “I am so grateful this beautiful and talented woman stepped in for me on such short notice and allowed me time to heal,” Morgan tweeted. “I can’t wait to be back, but It comforts me to know that Amanda is in such great hands.”
“We’re grateful that Karla Mosley, a seasoned actor and consummate professional, was able to step into the role of Amanda during Mishael Morgan’s temporary absence,” Y&R co-executive producer Tony Morina and co-executive producer/headwriter Josh Griffith said in a joint statement. “Mishael is a valuable member of the Y&R family and will be back on air soon to continue her journey as Amanda.”
Mosely, who made her daytime debut playing Christina on GUIDING LIGHT from 2008-09, played B&B’s Maya Avant Forrester from 2013 until the character exited the canvas in 2019. And now she’s going to add Y&R to her resume!
“I was able to connect with Mishael, who is such a goddess,” Mosley told Soap Opera Digest. “The only hesitation I had about doing this is that I was stepping into such big shoes because Mishael is so beloved and such a wonderful human and actor. It was great that I could talk with her and say thank you for leaving me such a wonderful path to follow.”
Currently, Amanda has agreed to defend her grandfather in court against accusations that he arranged the car accident that took the life of her biological father. While she took the case in the hopes of growing closer to her birth family, the attorney could be opening up a can of worms she might regret! Thankfully, Morgan is healing nicely and her vision is returning, so hopefully, she should be able to reclaim her role sometime in the coming weeks.
