Sad news for soap fans — Soap Opera Digest is reporting that THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS actor Brett alum has died at the age of 92. The actor joined the cast of the long-running soap back in 1980 to play Paul’s father, Carl Williams.
Hadley remained with the soap, playing the police detective until 1990, and then returned for another run from 1998-99. In addition to a father, Paul also got a mother at the same time in 1980 with the late Carolyn Conwell portraying his religious mother, Mary Williams.
“Brett was the sweetest guy,” Lauralee Bell (Christine) told Digest. “Biggest smile and the believability of he and Doug Davidson being father and son was like no other!”
Born in Louisville, KY, Hadley studied drama at the University of Mexico and amassed an impressive resume during his career in show business. In addition to his role on Y&R, he also appeared in multiple episodes of MARCUS WELBY M.D. as well as making guest appearances in shows like POLICE STORY, THE WALTONS, KOJAK, THE COLBYS, HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The actor could also be seen in films like Funny Lady, Next of Kin, and The Babe.
