Due to the extensive network news coverage of the presidential impeachment trial, the daytime soaps were heavily impacted with preemptions. However, in the case of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, it was able to air many days in some time zones, meaning fans who weren’t able to watch it in its regular time slot on TV had to seek it out on demand or online. Faith chose not to return to boarding school to be there for her mother as Sharon prepared to undergo treatment for her breast cancer. Phyllis could tell something was going on and after butting her nose in, discovered the truth and surprised Sharon by being supportive to her former rival.
The Newman family prepared to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Newman Enterprises with a big gala. Feeling she was crossing a line, Amanda told Billy she was backing off of their friendship so as not to ruin his marriage. But Victor hired someone to spy on them and had pictures taken of the pair together. After another argument with Victoria, Billy walked out on her. Victor and Nikki both comforted their heartbroken daughter and rallied around her to present a united front against Billy, who had been arrested after getting into a fight at the dive bar. Amanda tried to explain the situation with Billy to Victoria, but she wasn’t interested in giving the guy yet another chance.
Chance warned that “she” had gone missing but Adam wasn’t worried. Adam realized that Chloe was the one who saved his life when Billy tried to run him over. Chelsea continued to try to find happiness with Adam but Nick was still lurking around the periphery, so Adam suggested they move to Paris. Chance agreed to a date with Phyllis and she kissed him passionately, but he ended up back with Abby and they took their new relationship to the next level by hitting the sheets.
Summer and Kyle went away on a business trip where she made a move and the exes shared a kiss. Mariah warned Theo not to make trouble for Kyle and Lola but he overheard Kyle and Summer talking about what had happened between them in San Francisco. Needling Summer, Theo got her to admit to kissing Kyle, but declined to blow up his old friend’s marriage figuring Kyle would do that himself. And in fact, a guilty Kyle did confess to Lola that he and Summer had kissed!
Fen told Michael and Lauren that he was moving to Nashville to start a new job and live a sober life. With Tessa off on tour with Tanner, Mariah was at loose ends and reconnected with an old friend, Lindsay. The redhead took another hit when Devon told her he was shutting down Power Communications and she was out of a job.
