Y&R Alum Sasha Calle Previews Her New Role as Supergirl!

Tags:

When Sasha Calle left THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS in 2021 after just three years as Lola, she was cast as Supergirl in the upcoming DC Comics movie The Flash. And while she was excited to make the announcement back then, there hasn’t been much to say as the film’s release was repeatedly pushed back. But now The Flash is hitting the big screen on Friday, June 16, and the actress is over the moon that everyone will finally get to see her as a superhero!

“This is so wild!” Calle exclaimed on Instagram, sharing the full trailer for the movie. “It’s so beautiful and exciting to finally share this with you all! I have fallen deeply in love with Supergirl. Getting to know her and feel her has been one of my greatest honors. This moment is so special. I love you all. My heart!

“If there’s anything Supergirl has taught me, it’s hope,” she continued. “Anything is possible. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Congratulations to every human that has worked on this film. Again, I love you. Thank you. Wooo!”

The plot of The Flash centers around Barry Allen traveling back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, which creates an alternate reality without superheroes. He then enlists the help of Batman and Calle’s Supergirl from other realities in order to set things right and return home to his own world.

After appearances in a handful of films, Calle got her big break when she was cast as Lola Rosales, part of a new family introduced to Y&R in 2018. She also earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer in 2020 for her work. The talented actress then went straight from daytime to the silver screen when she was cast in the high-profile role of Supergirl.

While a solo Supergirl film was originally in development to follow her introduction in The Flash, given recent changes to the plans for the DC Cinematic Universe, that may not still be the case. Either way, check out Calle as the Kryptonian superhero in the trailer below and get ready to see her on the big screen in June!
