Y&R Alum Thad Luckinbill Joins the Cast of LIONESS!

Tags:

While J.T.’s name has been mentioned recently on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, making fans wonder if the character is coming back to the soap for another visit, portrayer Thad Luckinbill is keeping busy with a new role in the upcoming Paramount+ original series LIONESS!

Deadline is reporting that Luckibill has been cast in a heavily recurring role working opposite Zoe Saldaña in LIONESS, playing an old friend of hers who oversees a trafficking contact. From YELLOWSTONE creator Taylor Sheridan, LIONESS is based on a real-life CIA program featuring undercover female operatives working to bring down a terrorist organization from within. The series cast also includes Nicole Kidman, Laysla De Oliveira, and Morgan Freeman.

Luckinbill got his big break when he made his daytime debut as J.T. Hellstrom on Y&R back in August 1999. Originally starting out as a recurring character, the actor was put on contract in 2002 and remained with the soap until November 2010. He reprised the role in December 2017 before the character was killed off in April 2018. However, J.T. wasn’t really dead, and Luckinbill reprised the role to wrap up the storyline in March 2019.

In addition to his work on Y&R, Luckinbill has appeared in numerous episodes of primetime series like NASH BRIDGES, SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, NIP/TUCK, GHOST WHISPERER, CSI: MIAMI, GREY’S ANATOMY, and CRIMINAL MINDS throughout his career. He can also be seen in movies like Just Married, Sleepover, The Good Lie, and Devotion.

As the series is still casting roles, Paramount+ has not yet announced a release date for LIONESS, but the series is expected to premiere later in 2023. Keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates!
