THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Y&R Stars Say Goodbye to James Hyde

Jeremy Stark was a despicable villain who met a violent end on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS but portrayer James Hyde was well-liked among his co-stars and they were sorry to see him go! “Thank you for being such a joy to work with!” Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) shared on Instagram. “We all love you! Thank you for being such a positive spirit on set and a great scene partner.

“I’m sorry the marriage was short-lived and I’m sorry I stabbed you to death,” she continued. “Those scissors sure were sharp. But… ya know, Jeremy can always have a twin brother…”

Susan Walters (Diane) also enjoyed working opposite Hyde, even if they disagreed on sports. “We sure do all love you!” she declared. “You gave me some of my favorite days at work… even if you were wearing an Ohio State sweatshirt for rehearsal. Miss you! And thank you!”

Hyde is best known to soap fans for playing Sam Bennett on PASSIONS for its entire NBC run, but he also had small roles on AS THE WORLD TURNS and ANOTHER WORLD earlier in his extensive career. He joined the cast of Y&R back in October 2022 for a brief appearance in a flashback before arriving in Genoa City properly the following month.

“Loved working with you and hanging in hair and makeup!” enthused Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren). Courtney Hope (Sally) added: “The best. So missed.” And Lauralee Bell (Christine) simply posted three applause emojis to show her appreciation for all Hyde brought to the role.

While this does appear to be the end of Jeremy Stark’s villainy on Y&R, it is a soap after all, so you never know what the future might hold!
