While Sasha Calle’s future as Supergirl was unfortunately cut short, the YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum’s career is still flying high. Deadline is reporting that the actress has been cast in a new thriller starring Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson titled Lips Like Sugar!

Set during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Lips Like Sugar centers around homicide detectives played by Harrelson and Wilson who are trying to stop a possible serial killer. Calle will be playing Andi Campos, a teenage girl whose new friend, played by Kathryn Newton, goes missing and could be the next victim. The film’s cast also includes Juliette Lewis and Erin Moriarty and is written by Anthony Tambakis and directed by Brantley Gutierrez.

Calle made her daytime debut as Lola Rosales on Y&R back in September 2018 and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Younger Performer category in 2020. But the actress exited the soap in May 2021 to play Supergirl in the Warner Bros. superhero movie The Flash.

Although there were originally plans to spin Calle’s Supergirl off into her own solo feature film following The Flash, backstage shakeups at Warner Bros. and DC restructured the future plans of the DC Cinematic Universe, and the Supergirl film was scrapped.

Still, fans can still look forward to seeing Calle in Lips Like Sugar and many more projects to come. Since filming on the movie is expected to start this month, a release date has not yet been set. So keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for updates!
