Zuleyka Silver Reveals the Truth Behind Audra and Kyle’s Hookup on Y&R!
As a daytime newcomer, Zuleyka Silver is experiencing a lot of firsts in her role as Audra Charles on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. And with Audra and Kyle’s unexpected hookup, the actress experienced her very first serious love scene on the soap!
Although notified ahead of time that a love scene was coming up, Silver admitted she was surprised to learn that it wasn’t Tucker that Audra would be bedding but Michael Mealor’s Kyle! “I was like, ‘Oh my God!’” she told Dishing With Digest. “I think we were both really surprised because we had only had that one interaction before.”
Thankfully, Mealor — who joined the cast of Y&R as the Abbott heir in 2018 — has years of experience on the soap so he was able to help the newbie through it. “I knew this was going to be a more intense sex scene,” Silver confided, “like a real one, [compared to] the little taste I had with Trevor [St. John, Tucker]. He told me that he’s done a ton of them and his character was kind of like a bad boy and stuff before, so I was like, ‘Okay, so he’s like, professional at these sex scenes and I’m… not!’
“He saw that I was a bit nervous and stuff so he helped calm me,” she continued. “He was also very professional and respectful and sweet and kind. And yeah, I was pretty nervous, but then, after doing it a couple times, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m a pro at this now!’”
Silver may have laughed at the idea, but definitely appreciated Mealor helping her through what could have potentially been an incredibly uncomfortable experience. “He’s great,” she declared. “I think it really helps when you have a partner who understands that you’re not a pro at sex scenes and does everything they can to make you feel comfortable on set and stuff. He was really protective and really kind and I love [the Kyle/Audra] dynamic. I feel like they’re such opposites.”
