THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Star Kate Linder Helps Raise Money for Lupus Research
On Saturday, Sept. 22, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Kate Linder (Esther) will be leading the Walk to End Lupus Now event in Los Angeles as the Grand Marshall. “Lupus is a disease that has touched my family,” the actress revealed in a statement. “My sister-in-law was diagnosed with lupus 18 years ago, and I have seen firsthand how it’s affected her everyday life.
“Despite its devastating impact,” Linder explained, “awareness of lupus has remained low and funding for research is not enough. That’s why it’s so important for our communities to come together at events like the Walk to End Lupus Now to not only show our support for all lupus warriors, but to raise funds for research so that we can develop better treatments and find a cure.”
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that ravages different parts of the body. It is difficult to diagnose, hard to live with and a challenge to treat. It has a range of symptoms, strikes without warning, has no known cause, and no known cure. The Lupus Foundation of America works to raise awareness of the disease and raise money for research into treatments and hopefully one day, a cure. This year, the walk’s theme is “Be Powerful” and will feature activities, games, and entertainment leading up to the walk.
