Brandon Barash Says Goodbye to Jake on DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Tags:

Fans were shocked when Jake was shot on DAYS OF OUR LIVES and was rushed to the hospital where Kayla declared he didn’t make it! And while some aren’t completely convinced the character is truly dead (a reasonable assumption in Salem, honestly…), portrayer Brandon Barash seems to have confirmed it in a funny social media post!

“How it started/How it’s going,” he captioned a photo of himself reading a book on birds contrasted with reading the Handbook for the Recently Deceased from the classic movie Beetlejuice with a bloodstain on his shirt. “RIP, Jake — it was fun getting to know you.”

Barash, who made his daytime debut as GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Johnny Zacchara, joined the cast of DAYS back in March 2019, taking over the role of Stefan DiMera from his former GH castmate Tyler Christopher. However, by October of that year, Stefan was shot and killed… though Barash wasn’t off the show!

The actor soon returned to the NBC soap as an entirely new character, Jake Lambert, in April 2020. This guy was later revealed to be Stefan’s previously unknown twin brother, and enjoyed romances with Gabi, Kate, and eventually Ava before meeting his maker.

Barash’s castmates also had fun with his Instagram post. “My brotha,” commented Robert Scott Wilson (Alex) along with a ghost emoji. And Victoria Konefal (ex-Ciara) posted a crying emoji and joked: “Just say Beetlejuice three times and you’ll be good.”

Given that Wilson just departed Salem as Ben Weston before showing up again weeks later as the new Alexander Kiriakis, might Barash still have another life left to live on DAYS? Could he somehow reprise the role of Stefan? Or might he also take on yet another character to add to the canvas? You’ll just have to keep watching DAYS to see what happens next because, with this show, you honestly can never tell!
