What Happened to Dr. Snyder on DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Dr. Snyder on DAYS OF OUR LIVES is a new character, but his face will be familiar to plenty of soap fans! Actor Michael Lowry has appeared on multiple daytime dramas, playing Jake on ALL MY CHILDREN, Les on AS THE WORLD TURNS, Dr. Hillman on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, and Ross on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Viewers might also recognize him from primetime appearances in shows like NASHVILLE and POWERS. Lowry joined the cast of DAYS in the April 2, 2021 episode, and by the end of June, he’d met a terrible fate!
Dr. Clay Snyder first appeared at Salem University Hospital when he introduced himself to Belle Black and Shawn Douglas Brady as Jan Spears’ doctor. He informed them that Jan had awoken from her coma and seemed to be doing fine. However, the chief resident began to show his darker side a few weeks later when he berated medical student Tripp Johnson for having a close moment with Allie Horton, who was meant to be a patient, not a girlfriend.
The physician also gave Gwen Rizczech the bad news that she had lost her baby. Dr. Snyder then saw her shortly thereafter when she was admitted to the hospital after falling down the stairs. Realizing that she hadn’t told anyone she’d miscarried and was blaming it on the fall, he told her he was reluctant to lie to everyone but ultimately kept quiet.
Dr. Snyder continued to give Tripp a hard time, scolding him for every little infraction. And when he saw that Gwen was blaming Abigail for pushing her down the stairs and causing her to miscarry, the doc took advantage of the opportunity and threatened to tell the truth about when she really lost the baby unless she delivered packages for him — illegal drugs! Later, when Dr. Snyder examined Kate Roberts and determined she wasn’t blind, she swore him to secrecy, threatening to tell the board about all the recent accusations against him if he exposed her scheme!
When Xander Kiriakis found the pills, Gwen confessed Dr. Snyder’s blackmail, and he offered to help get her out of the situation. Unfortunately, when he found the doc arguing with Gwen, he grabbed a letter opener and threatened to kill him! Gwen talked him down but then Dr. Snyder grabbed his chest and fell over dead!
