Daytime Emmys 2020: Details of This Year’s Show

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced more details of the Daytime Emmy Awards broadcast airing on CBS Friday, June 26, including presenters and guest appearances. As previously announced, the virtual ceremony will be hosted by the ladies of THE TALK. Soap stars slated to appear during the show are THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS‘ Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) and Eric Braeden (Victor), DAYS OF OUR LIVES‘ James Renolds (Abe), THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL‘s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), and GENERAL HOSPITAL‘s Maurice Benard (Sonny).

In addition, look for appearances from daytime stars like Cookie Monsters, Kelsey Grammer, Wayne Brady (ex-Reese, B&B), Kelly Ripa (Hayley, ALL MY CHILDREN), Ryan Seacrest, and more. This year, the Daytime Emmys are being broken up into three separate broadcasts. The Digital Drama categories will be streamed in a virtual ceremony on Sunday, July 19. And the Children’s, Animation, Family Viewing, and Lifestyle Programming categories will be presented on Sunday, July 26.

For the main broadcast, airing for the first time in years on television, the major categories for acting, writing, directing, and drama series will be presented live on camera along with the major categories for talk shows, game shows, and morning shows. The awards for the technical categories like hair, makeup, costume design, music, and the like that are usually presented at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony the night before, will this year be announced immediately following the CBS broadcast on social media.
