2021 Daytime Emmys To Air on CBS!

Soap fans were thrilled to have the Daytime Emmy Awards back on broadcast TV in 2020, even if it was shot remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic. And now they can look forward to more of the same as CBS and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have announced a two-year deal for CBS to broadcast the Daytime Emmys!

CBS will present the first of the two specials, the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, on Friday, June 25, beginning at 8 p.m. ET on the CBS Television Network as well as streaming live and on demand on Paramount+. This will be the 15th time that CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys, more than any other network. And this is the first year since 2008 that one network has broadcast both the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards in the same year. CBS last hosted both shows in 2005.

2021 Daytime Emmys CBS

Before last year’s remote ceremony, the Daytime Emmys have not been aired on broadcast television since they appeared on the Pop TV cable network back in 2015. Since then, the Daytime Emmy Awards have been streamed live online, which has disappointed many soap fans who have been eager to see the awards ceremony shown on regular TV like all the others.

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, however, the 2021 Daytime Emmys will once again be held virtually because it still is not safe to hold the ceremony in person. The nominees are scheduled to be released in May, so keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for the nominations as well as any additional details regarding this year’s show that are released!
