Daytime Emmys 2023: Susan Lucci to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Although the 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards have not yet been rescheduled, plans for the ceremony (originally scheduled to air on Friday, June 16) continue to go ahead. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced that ALL MY CHILDREN icon Susan Lucci (Erica) and talk show host Maury Povich will be receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards during this year’s ceremony.

“We are thrilled to be recognizing two icons with Lifetime Achievement honors, Susan Lucci and Maury Povich,” said Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS. “Both of them have had astonishing success and deep impact in the world of daytime television, Susan in drama series and Maury in talk, and have left their indelible marks on the industry.  We look forward to celebrating their achievements and to also recognize the Gold and Silver Circle honorees when our celebrations are rescheduled.”

“I am truly humbled to receive this esteemed award from the Academy,” said Lucci. “Throughout my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside exceptional talents and embraced by my fans that have been with me every step of the way. This honor is not just a reflection of my journey, but a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the profound connection we are so lucky to forge with audiences all over the world through television.”

Lucci played the legendary daytime diva Erica Kane for over four decades on AMC, becoming famous for constantly being nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards and never winning. Finally, in 1999, on her 19th nomination, she took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress. And now she’ll have another to add to her collection!
