Cameron Mathison Shares a Sneak Peek of His GH Debut!

The day is just about here! Drew is returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL and Cameron Mathison offered fans a first peek at his take on the character! “This is the week!” the actor enthused on Instagram. “Drew Cain is back on GH and judging by this photo, he means business!”

The screenshot Mathison shared was of himself in character sporting a disheveled look and a beard with cuts and bruises around his face. The wall behind him is cracked and covered in graffiti and his ragged blue henley shirt looks like it could even be a prison uniform!

Best known to soap fans for playing Ryan Lavery on ALL MY CHILDREN for over a decade, Mathison was revealed to be joining the cast of GH back in April 2021. Fans speculated wildly about who he could possibly be playing, with some hoping for a reprisal of AMC’s Ryan, but even when he first reported to work at the studio at the very beginning of July, no one was letting any details leak. It wasn’t until the beginning of August that the rumors were settled and it was finally confirmed he would be taking over the role of Drew Cain, last played by Billy Miller from 2014-2019 (although for the first half of that, everyone thought he was Jason Morgan… it’s complicated!).

The last viewers saw of Drew, he was headed off to Afghanistan to return the cash Shiloh stole while they were serving together in the military. Off-camera, he helped track down Andre and get the doctor back to Port Charles to restore Franco’s memory, but then Drew’s plane was reported missing and he was presumed dead. Clearly, reports of his death were greatly exaggerated (as they often are on soaps!) and now fans will finally be able to find out exactly what happened to Drew and where he’s been all this time!

“I’ve been having an absolute blast shooting my first two weeks on GH, and finally I’ll air Tuesday, Aug. 17,” Mathison happily declared. “Here we gooo!” So make sure you don’t miss a single episode of this week and the weeks to come as Drew reconnects with Sam and makes his way back to Port Charles to settle some unfinished business!
