Dr. Kirk on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need to Know
If you think Dr. Kirk on GENERAL HOSPITAL looks familiar, you might be an ABC soap fan who also watched ONE LIFE TO LIVE back in the day. The actor who made his debut as Dante’s doctor in June 2020 is Christopher Cousins, who portrayed conman Cain Rogan on OLTL in numerous episodes dating from 1991 until 2008. Before that, he also appeared as Colin Crowley in a few episodes of CBS sudser AS THE WORLD TURNS in 1990 and Greg Houston on ANOTHER WORLD in 1986. In the Dec. 10 episode of GH, however, the role was recast with Jamison Jones, who had previously played William on the soap back in 2005. His run only lasted a couple of episodes as the character met an unexpected fate!
Dr. Kirk first appeared in August 2020 treating Dante Falconeri at the WSB facility in Switzerland. While Dante seemed to have given up, Dr. Kirk was determined to help him and get him home to his family and said that there was a mission that could help him return to Port Charles. Eventually, Dante agreed to work on his PTSD but refused to see his mother when she came to visit him. Dr. Kirk later informed Dante that his grandfather, Mike Corbin, had passed away, and missing his family, Dante asked about the mission.
Eventually, Dr. Kirk revealed that the mission was to take down Peter August, and after the physician clicked his pen twice, Dante declared he would complete the mission, clearly in some kind of suggestible state. It was then revealed that Dr. Kirk was working with Dr. Liesl Obrecht, who wanted revenge on Peter for framing her and sending her to prison. Dr. Kirk was obviously smitten with Obrecht, but she was just leading him on to get what she wanted.
In November, Dr. Kirk met with Dante on the pier to get an update on the mission’s progress. After showing him the evidence he’d found on Peter’s computer, Dante started asking questions, so Dr. Kirk quickly clicked his pen to order him to complete the mission.
Dr. Kirk returned to the facility where Obrecht urged him to return to Port Charles because he seemed to be losing control of Dante. Scott Baldwin and Franco Baldwin traveled to the WSB facility in Switzerland where they managed to force their way in to see him. Dr. Kirk discussed Franco’s case with him and agreed there could be a connection between Franco’s brain tumor, his personality changes, and the memory transfer.
Unfortunately, when Dr. Kirk once again tried to put the moves on Obrecht, she threatened him with a switchblade, and when Scotty punched the doc in the face, he fell on the knife and died! Looks like Dante is on his own, now!
