For the third time since May, the character of Molly has been recast on GENERAL HOSPITAL. On the September 27 episode of the soap, viewers were taken by surprise when the announcer declared that Kristen Vaganos was now playing the role.
A native of Philadelphia, Vaganos earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and kicked off her acting career with roles in several short films. She is most widely known for starring in the Lifetime thriller Obsessed With the Babysitter and recurring in the Amazon Prime series BULGE BRACKET. She also starred as the titular character in the shifter revenge thriller I Am Lisa, for which a sequel is in development.
The daughter of Alexis and Ric, Molly Lansing-Davis was first introduced to the GH canvas in 2005. After a series of twins played the part, Molly was aged to a pre-teen in 2009 when Haley Pullos took over the role. However, following Pullos’ arrest back in May for causing a dangerous car accident, Molly was temporarily recast with Holiday Mia Kriegel.
Kriegel turned out to just be a temporary replacement, however, as Brooke Anne Smith stepped into Molly’s shoes in July. While Smith was meant to be a “permanent” addition to the soap according to her brother, her casting was met with pushback from viewers who felt that, at the age of 39, the actress came across as too old to be playing the youngest Davis daughter, who is approximately a decade younger.
While there’s been no word from the soap whether Vaganos is a temporary recast or will be playing Molly for the foreseeable future, according to the resumé she has posted on her website, the actress is “heavy recurring” on GH.
Please join us in welcoming Vaganos to the GH family! We look forward to seeing what she brings to the role!
