Erika Slezak Expresses Her Gratitude
On Valentine’s Day, daytime icon Erika Slezak (Viki, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) shared some love with her fans following the recent death of her daughter, Amanda.
“Dear Friends: I am so grateful for all the cards, E-mails, and posts on social media that were shared with me,” she said in a message posted to her website. “I am touched by your kind and sympathetic words on the passing of our dear Amanda. This means a great deal to me and my family. With love and gratitude, Erika.”
Slezak became a soap star when she took over the role of Victoria “Viki” Lord on OLTL back in 1971. The actress remained with the show through to its final episode on ABC, earning a record six Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress. She also appeared on OLTL’s short-lived online revival series in 2013.
Since the end of OLTL, Slezak has continued to work occasionally, appearing in primetime series like THE RESIDENT and BLUE BLOODS and starring alongside Jeff Daniels in the film Guest Artist.
Slezak has two children, Michael and Amanda, but sadly, on Jan. 29, it was reported that her daughter had suddenly passed away. Naturally, the actress’ legions of loyal fans were quick to express their sympathies, and those efforts were greatly appreciated. Please join us in continuing to send love to Slezak and her entire family.
