Darin Brooks Clarifies His Status at THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL
In May 2023, Darin Brooks celebrated his 10th anniversary playing Wyatt on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, but then in October, the actor stunned fans by announcing that he was no longer on contract with the soap and it was, “Bye, for now.”
However, in January 2024, Brooks reprised his role for a couple of episodes as Wyatt teased Bill about his new romance with Poppy and rented his beach house to R.J. before taking off himself. “I didn’t expect it, either,” Brooks admitted during a Zoom interview with Michael Fairman. “I don’t know, maybe they did write that as just sort of like a little bit of a goodbye.”
Before the decade he spent on B&B playing Wyatt Spencer, Brooks played Max Brady on DAYS OF OUR LIVES for five years, so he’s well aware of how things can change in daytime. “I’ve been in this business for a long time and know soaps and I know things change and stories move and everything just changes sometimes,” he admitted. “Brad Bell and the family and everybody just created an incredible 10 years for me.”
However, as his appearances on the soap became more and more infrequent, Brooks decided it was time to check in. “I had a conversation,” he revealed. “I just said, ‘Hey, I haven’t really been working lately and all that. Are we gonna see some of Wyatt?’ and he’s like, “I don’t know if that’s on the canvas right now.’
“And in soaps, we move so fast, you don’t know,” Brooks added. “I mean, like, tomorrow, they could be like, ‘Hey, we need you for some episodes’ and I’m like, ‘Okay.”
However, the Daytime Emmy Winner said that when fans noticed that his picture was no longer in B&B’s opening credits, he decided to post on social media to confirm that he was no longer a part of the regular cast. “I wanted to put something out there,” Brooks confided. “I love these people, I love this show, I love Wyatt, I love everything about it… I just wanted to let the fans know that I love them and… it’s not over. It’s… ’til I see you again type of deal. You know what I mean?”
