Kayla Ewell Shares an Update on Her and Tanner Novlan’s Premature Son
It’s been a little more than a month since THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL alum Kayla Ewell (ex-Caitlin) gave birth prematurely to Jones Douglas, her second child with hubby Tanner Novlan (Finn). And while the couple’s tiny little guy has fought hard over the past five weeks and is thriving, there is still a long road ahead, as Ewell explained in a moving Instagram post updating her followers on Jones’ progress and her hopes that he’ll soon be home with big sister Poppy, who will celebrate her third birthday on July 16.
“I’ve taken some time to be with my husband, our daughter and our new son and we are on our way to continued recovery,” Ewell wrote on July 8. “Thank you for all the love and support. Your words have kept me going and continue to help us through this.”
Ewell delivered Jones on June 6, seven weeks ahead of his due date. The newborn weighed 3 lbs., 9 oz., and has been in the neonatal intensive care unit (aka NICU) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles ever since. “Even in this, one of the most stressful of medical situations, I knew we would be treated quickly and had options,” Ewell continued. “Knowing that I have choices for my reproductive healthcare is a privilege that every person deserves and, in many cases, needs.”
While Ewell didn’t share any timeline regarding how much longer Jones would have to remain in the hospital, she did express her appreciation for how well he’s been cared for during these first few fragile weeks of his life. “I’m so grateful for every single doctor and NICU nurse who is helping Jones strengthen and grow so when the time comes, we can finally bring him home,” praised Ewell. “We’re so excited to welcome him and we can’t do this without the support of all our family, friends, and loved ones. Thank you for all the continued encouragement.”
Although Novlan hasn’t given any further updates about Jones on his own Instagram page, the B&B star did share his wife’s message as an Instagram Story, and sweetly replied to Ewell’s poignant post by commenting that they are a “dream team” and including four heart emojis.
We hope that little Jones is strong enough to go home very soon!
