Hunter King Fights Back Against Internet Haters!

Tags:

When Hunter King shared a selfie on Instagram showing off a makeup hack that she hoped would help her appear less exhausted, she never imagined that the photo would instead draw waves of criticism from Internet trolls.

It all started on April 1 when THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ former Summer shared a sleepy-looking selfie. “Tried the white eyeliner hack,” King wrote, referring to a makeup trick to use white eyeliner on the waterline of your eyes to make your face look brighter and your eyes bigger and more awake. “Still look tired.”

While King was sharing an honest and vulnerable moment, her innocent post took a nasty turn when many commenters began negatively commenting on her appearance. Specifically, the former Y&R star’s lips appeared to be unusually full.

As the comments in the post filled up with some folks criticizing the actress for getting lip fillers and others defending her choice to get cosmetic enhancements, King’s mom, Jamie, stepped in to explain that those lush lips are a genetic trait she and her daughters experience each morning. “Extra puffy morning lips!” wrote Mama King. “Why do us King ladies wake up so puffy?”

King’s boyfriend, Andy McNeil, also stepped in to come to his lady love’s defense against the Keyboard Karens. “Relax, Internet trolls,” he posted. “I wake up next to her every morning and this is a common thing! She’s gorgeous even when her lips get swollen.”

McNeil also had a pointed message for those folks accusing King of cosmetic lip augmentation. “And spoiler alert to all the medical experts leaving comments about fillers — the swelling goes down an hour or so after waking up,” he added. “Calm down.”

After being bombarded with comments, King later addressed her appearance in an Insta Story. Insisting that she has no lip fillers, King wrote that she sees nothing wrong with the procedure. What she does see wrong, however, is how some people felt “so comfortable commenting such rude things” about another person’s appearance. “Keep your negative comments to yourself,” she said. “I don’t know who raised people to think it’s okay to spew such negativity. It’s rude. And it’s hurtful.”

Clarifying that she does not have any fillers herself — “My lips are just extra swollen in the mornings for some reason?” — King praised those people who have taken that route. “But for anyone who does, good for you! Do what makes you happy! And for the love of God, can we all just be kind? The world needs more of that.”

Don’t forget to tune in to see King and former DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Chandler Massey (ex-Will) in the original Hallmark Channel movie The Professional Bridesmaid, premiering on Saturday, April 8, at 8 p.m.!
