Hunter King Has a Hallmark Date With Chandler Massey!

Look for a romantic pair-up between daytime grads Hunter King (ex-Summer, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) and Chandler Massey (ex-Will, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) this spring on Hallmark Channel! The network recently announced its “Spring Into Love” slate of April movies, and the Daytime Emmy winners will share the screen in The Professional Bridesmaid.

According to a synopsis for the film, King stars as Maggie, who realized years ago that she had a special knack for being a bridesmaid and went pro. Now, she uses her talents as a paid professional to help brides navigate the tricky emotional and social dynamics that go along with planning the big day. Maggie’s latest client is Alexis, whose father is up for re-election as the mayor of Columbus. Since the wedding is sure to be the social event of the season, the mayor’s team hires Maggie to join the bridal party and keep everything on track — but since no one can know she is a professional, Maggie poses as cousin Maisie.

Things get tricky when Massey’s character, ambitious local reporter Henry, is assigned to the story. Hoping to get close to the mayor and secure the scoop on the pending development of local parkland, Henry starts sniffing around. To pull off her assignment, Maggie must coordinate three unhelpful bridesmaids and keep Henry focused on the wedding. All the while, of course, hiding her true identity as she grows closer to Henry!

The movie is part of King’s multi-picture deal with Hallmark Media, which was announced in November. “Thrilled to continue working with my Hallmark family!” King gushed on Instagram about her contract with the media company. “So many exciting things to come.”

King played Y&R’s Summer for nearly ten years (from 2012 until 2021), earning five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress — and taking home back-to-back trophies in 2014 and 2015. Since leaving the soap, she has starred in the Hallmark movies Hidden Gems, Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths, and A Royal Corgi Christmas. Massey has played DAYS’ Will on and off since 2010, having wrapped his most recent return earlier this month. During his time back and forth in Salem, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award six times for Outstanding Younger Actor, winning the category three years in a row: 2012, 2013, and 2014. Like King, Massey has also appeared in three Hallmark movies, Next Stop, Christmas, Heart of the Matter, and A Tale of Two Christmases.

The Professional Bridesmaid is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, April 8, at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel, so keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com as the date nears for a full preview!
