Hunter King Opens up About Returning to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Tags:

During her nearly 10-year run as Summer Newman on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, Hunter King earned five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress, taking home the trophy in 2014 and 2015. And while she would come and go from the CBS soap due to her pursuit of other career opportunities, the actress would seem to be permanently out due to the role now being played by Allison Lanier.

Still, things change on soaps daily, and there are still plenty of Y&R fans who miss seeing King on the show and would love to see her again. “People do come and go and paths seem to cross in the soap world,” she admitted to Soaps.SheKnows.com. “So never say never, but right now, I am just so incredibly happy and honored to be with Hallmark.”

Since leaving Y&R, King has appeared in the Hallmark movies Hidden Gems, Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths, and A Royal Corgi Christmas. Before her holiday movie was released, it was announced that the actress had signed a multi-picture deal with Hallmark Media, so fans can still look forward to seeing her on TV in the future, even if it’s not in Genoa City.

While the role of Summer has since been recast, actors have been known to rejoin their old soaps in entirely new roles. And King could also return to daytime by joining the cast of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, or GENERAL HOSPITAL. But for now, it appears that she’s moved on.

“I feel so lucky to have had those years over at Y&R,” King confided. “So for now, that chapter is closed and who knows what’s going to happen. We’ll see.”

So keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates on King’s next projects and we’ll be sure to let you know when to tune in!
