The Young & The Restless

J. Eddie Peck Opens up About Cole and Ashley’s Relationship on Y&R (EXCLUSIVE)

When J. Eddie Peck returned to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, Cole was thrown head-first into a storyline where he discovered that Baby Eve, the child that he and Victoria believed died decades ago was actually still alive! Of course, while the focus initially was on that particular tale, it was only a matter of time before Cole began interacting with other people in Genoa City… including his other ex-wife, Ashley!

Cole became involved with Ashley while he and Victoria were in a rough patch, and he even proposed to her. When Victoria found she was pregnant, Cole promised to be a good father but decided to stay with Ashley. Sadly, the baby died shortly after birth (or so they thought!) and Cole eventually married the Abbott.

“He was very close to her, had a very special connection with her in a different way” Peck told Soaps In Depth of Cole’s feelings for Ashley versus Victoria. “He was of a different level of maturity, a different place in his life when he developed that relationship with Ashley.”

The marriage came to an end when Ashley wanted to have a child with him but Cole wasn’t on the same page with that idea, and so they divorced and he moved overseas to work as a professor at Oxford University.

“It wasn’t a nasty split,” Peck mused. “I really think it was more, ‘Hey, you’re over here and I’m over here and we have careers pulling us in different directions, and maybe this is the right time. So I do think there’s some unfinished business between Ashley and Cole.”

Keep watching Y&R to see if Ashley feels the same way as the storyline continues to unfold!
