Michael Damian Previews What’s Next for Danny on Y&R

Tags:

When his schedule allowed for a longer return to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS than his usual quick visits on holidays or special occasions, Michael Damian was excited to once more revisit his character of Danny. And the fans were almost even more thrilled to see the beloved character back on screen again.

“I’ve gotten a tremendous reaction on social media,” Damian told Soap Opera Digest. “The fans have been posting some clips from the past that I’d forgotten all about, like when Danny just finishes making the bed and Cricket comes out wearing sexy lingerie, or when they were in the kitchen cooking Italian food for a dinner party. The fans are really excited about this, which is very touching to me.”

Damian debuted as rocker Danny Romalotti back in 1980, and while his original run on Y&R ended in 1998, the actor has continued to pop back occasionally. But while those brief visits didn’t allow for too much drama, his current “extended stay” promises to be full of it!

Y&R Danny Phyllis

Although the first person Danny encountered during this visit was Phyllis, he assures the Danny and Christine fans that there’s a lot to look forward to. “I think the fans are really going to enjoy this,” the actor enthused. “The writers are keeping it real with all of that history and the great story that can go along with it. The fans have been on this roller-coaster ride with Danny and Cricket for a long time so I think they’ll be treated to some good story.”

Of course, Phyllis will naturally be a part of that story, whether Danny and Christine like it or not! “Phyllis is not going to like Danny and Cricket [spending time with each other],” Damian smiled, “and Phyllis is in rehabilitation mode where she’s trying to be a good person now and I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s see it.’ It’s very interesting dynamics. Phyllis is like, ‘Oh my God, you’re still not over her!’ So it’s kind of fun.”
