Michael Damian Returns to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!
Well, if you guessed that the recent post from Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) teasing another big return to Genoa City was Danny Romalotti, you were right. Michael Damian is indeed returning to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS to reprise his fan-favorite role! “Incredibly excited to be returning to Genoa City working with all my amazing Y&R friends and family,” the actor tweeted after the news broke.
With Michael Graziadei already coming back to Y&R as Daniel Romalotti this fall, it seemed only natural that Damian would return as his father, Danny. And now Soap Opera Digest is reporting that he will appear in multiple episodes beginning on Thursday, Dec. 22.
Damian first appeared as rock star Danny Romalotti back in 1981 and although Daniel was later revealed not to be his biological child, he gained legal custody of the boy. After exiting the soap in 1998, the actor returned for further appearances, like in 2004, when Daniel learned Danny wasn’t his real father. Or in 2008 when Danny reconciled with his son and invited him to go on tour with him. Damian’s last appearance on Y&R was back in 2013 when he attended Katherine Chancellor’s funeral.
Recently, Damian has moved behind the camera, directing films like Flicka 2, Marley & Me: The Puppy Years, Flicka: Country Pride, A Princess for Christmas, and Much Ado About Christmas. He also writes and produces films, including the upcoming Netflix holiday movie Falling for Christmas, starring Lindsay Lohan, which was directed by Damian’s wife, Janeen.
CBS promised that there would be plenty of surprises in the cards as Y&R approaches its 50th anniversary in March 2023, and that includes the return of some fan-favorite characters.
