Mishael Morgan Takes “A Step Back” From THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Tags:

Just a few weeks ago, Mishael Morgan promised her Twitter followers that she would be “back on screen very soon” as THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Amanda. But while at the set to tape a brief return, the Daytime Emmy winner further clarified her status with the soap in a video message shared in an Instagram Story, revealing that she is no longer a contracted performer with Y&R.

“I just wrapped my last scenes back at Y&R and I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag,” Morgan began. “A lot of people have noticed that my name is not on the main credits anymore and I wanted everybody to know that it was my decision. I decided, actually back in December, that I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show.”

Morgan has been a part of the Y&R cast since 2013 when she first joined the soap as Hilary Curtis. The character was killed off in 2017 when Morgan opted to leave the show — but the actress made a surprise return as Hilary’s twin, Amanda Sinclair, in a shocking cliffhanger episode that aired on September 19, 2019. Now, having spent the better part of the past ten years on and off in daytime television, Morgan is looking for different ways to fill her creativity cup. “I just feel like at this point in my life and at this point in my career,” she confessed, “I wanted to mix things up a little bit.”

No matter what comes next, Morgan continued, the doors are open between the actress and the soap opera. “Y&R will always be home, and I have so appreciated this safe place to land that they’ve given me. So I know that I can be back,” she said. “They’re like family to me and coming back just reminds me of that. And I’m so appreciative for you guys, and all the fans who have supported me along this Y&R journey.”

However, Morgan insisted, her reduced time on the soap moving forward after this latest batch of episodes airs isn’t a goodbye. “I’m still going be on recurring, so you’ll still catch me in Genoa City,” she promised. “Thank you, guys, for being a part of this, and keep looking out for new things.”

Please join us in wishing Morgan the best of luck on her next adventure!
