Preview Mishael Morgan’s New Action (Christmas) Movie!

For her role as undercover detective Sophie Porter in Sworn Justice: Taken Before Christmas, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS fan favorite Mishael Morgan (Amanda) swapped the drama of daytime television for nail-biting action adventure! It was last December that the Emmy winner revealed she had wrapped production on the exciting film, which will debut on the streaming platform BET+ starting Thursday, Dec. 16.

“It’s not your mother’s Hallmark Christmas movie,” Morgan quipped in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “It’s more like the black Die Hard!”

Morgan stars opposite Leland Martin in the film, who plays D.A. Ty Jarrett. Shortly after Ty and Sophie begin dating, they are both informed that the other has been kidnapped! Locked out of their computers and phones, Ty and Sophie must follow the demands of the menacing voice giving them orders if they have any hope of saving the other. “It seems like it’s connected to some old undercover cases,” Morgan explained. “So she goes on the hunt to find him and take down who is causing all of this mess.”

While the actress shared on Instagram that working on the movie was “one of the most amazing experiences in my life,” Morgan almost didn’t take the role! “They knew who I was through Y&R and they really wanted me to be a part of it,” she revealed. “I was like, ‘Do I want to do a Christmas movie?’ I feel like they tend to lean very much into the world of soaps in terms of the dialogue and the pacing, so I felt like I wouldn’t be stretching myself too much with a Christmas movie. My agent kept calling me and telling me to just read the script. I read the first page and said, ‘Let’s do it!’”

As it turns out, Morgan wasn’t the only Sworn Justice cast member with a connection to the soap: Vivica A. Fox (ex-Stephanie) played her mom in the movie! “I adore her,” Morgan gushed. “We talked about Y&R and how our characters were both involved with Neil. We’ll definitely stay in touch.”
