THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Celebrates Its 12,000th Episode With a Week-Long Event!
Congratulations to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, who will be airing its landmark 12,000th episode during a week-long event beginning on Monday, Nov. 30! The actual day that the 12,000th episode will air is on Tuesday, Dec. 1, and it will contain all kinds of flashbacks to iconic moments from the soap’s history, but you won’t want to miss any of this special week!
During these important episodes, the Newman, Abbott, and Chancellor families will gather to celebrate the wedding of Abby and Chance. And the Hamilton/Winters family will be represented as Devon is officiating the ceremony. Unfortunately, due to Donny Boaz having to quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, the role of Chance during the nuptials will be played by Justin Gaston, who is temporarily filling in. On the plus side, as Melissa Ordway’s real-life husband, they won’t have to edit around Abby and Chance sharing their first kiss as man and wife!
Y&R also released a special video with stars Eric Braeden (Victor) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) expressing their gratitude to everyone who helped them reach this milestone, especially the fans! “As we speak, we are filming episode number 12,000,” Braden announced. “That’s extraordinary. And we couldn’t have done that without you. So we thank you for your loyalty.”
There’s also a preview clip celebrating the taping of the 12,000th episode featuring many of the soap’s stars holding special clapboards to commemorate the big event. We particularly like the bit where Christel Khalil (Lily) claps her clapboard and dares Jason Thompson (Billy) to try and outdo her!
