Please join us in sending love to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Kate Linder (Esther) as she mourns the death of her mother, Molly Wolveck. She died on June 1 at the age of 98 at her home in Arcadia, California, a family spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wolveck was a fan of Y&R from its premiere back in 1973, so she was naturally thrilled when her daughter, LInder, was cast on the soap as Esther Valentine in 1982. It was then that the proud mom made her first cameo appearance on Y&R when she and her husband, Ralph, appeared as restaurant customers while celebrating their real-life anniversary.
In 2017 Wolveck returned to the soap for another visit, appearing opposite Marla Adams (ex-Dina) and Suzanne Lloyd Bregman, the mother of Y&R star Tracey Bregman (Lauren). They were seen enjoying drinks with Dina at a hotel in Florida when Jack and Ashley arrived in search of their mother.
Wolveck was born in Los Angeles and raised in Pasadena. She met her future husband at the age of 16 and they were married in March 1943. They worked together at a grocery store and when Ralph got a job as a theater usher, Wolveck went to the movies every day to see him. She also helped her husband start his CPA firm and after he passed away in 2013, she continued to run the business until her own death.
An avid patron of the arts and philanthropist, Wolveck was also a season-ticket holder to the LA Dodgers and played tennis into her 90s. In addition to Linder, Wolveck is survived by her son, Randy, and his wife, Gina, as well as seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Donations can be made to the Molly Wolveck Memorial Fund at the Lupus Foundation of America.
Our thoughts are with the entire family during this difficult time.
