Y&R’s Camryn Grimes Opens up About Her Pregnancy
When THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Camryn Grimes (Mariah) discovered that she was pregnant, it came as a bit of a surprise because she and fiancé Brock Powell weren’t planning on having a baby yet.
“We weren’t trying but we weren’t not trying,” Grimes admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “I was texting with my best friend who is pregnant and told her that there was a slight possibility that I could be pregnant but that I was five days away from when I should take a test.
“She was like, ‘Well, why don’t you just wake up in the morning and take a test anyway?’” she continued. “So I did and I was shocked that it was immediately positive.” Although Grimes confided she was thinking of a clever way to break the news to her fiancé, everything changed when she laid eyes on the positive result.
“Two seconds after finding out I was pregnant, my brain was like, ‘I can’t keep this a secret!’” the actress revealed with a chuckle. “So I put the pregnancy test on Brock’s chest and nudged him awake. He just looked at it and asked, ‘Really?’ and I said, ‘Yeah.’ And then he quickly got up and was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was a very happy surprise and we’re thrilled.”
When Grimes announced her pregnancy on social media, some fans thought that her referring to “Baby Foster” meant they were expecting a baby boy. But while the couple do know their child’s gender, they’re keeping it under wraps for the time being. “Foster is actually Brock’s middle name,” she explained. “He doesn’t want to use Powell as the last name, so he asked if Foster could be our last name and I said it was fine with me.”
Grimes announced her engagement back in January 2022, but as they are not planning to tie the knot until 2024, welcoming their first child will not derail their wedding plans. “We get to have our kid at our wedding,” she smiled. “I never cared which came first so it’ll be a beautiful, wonderful experience.”
