Y&R’s Lily Brooks O’Briant Directed Her First Film!
At just 17 years old, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Lily Brooks O’Briant is already an accomplished actress, singer, and songwriter. And she’s a screenwriter and director now as well! The talented young lady worked both behind the camera and in front of the lens on the short film, Sharing The Floor!
On her Instagram page, O’Briant recently shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos from the movie’s Los Angeles set, back when she and her crew worked on the film in December 2022. In addition to her writing and directing duties, O’Briant shared the screen with Julia Garcia and Emma Rosales in Sharing The Floor, and raved on the movie’s Instagram page that she “wouldn’t have been able to do” the movie without the “hard work” of cinematographer Drew Ganyer.
According to the synopsis, Sharing The Floor is the emotional journey of three teen girls who find support in one another while each copes with the stress, anger, pain, and isolation from having a parent who is an addict. The film explores how a parent’s addiction affects their children from the teen’s perspective and focuses on the journey from isolation and anger to acceptance and comfort when the girls realize they aren’t the only ones grappling with the fallout that each of their addict parents have left.
So far, Sharing The Floor has screened at a handful of film festivals. “Can’t wait for many more film festivals to come!” O’Briant cheered on the movie’s Instagram page.
O’Briant made her Y&R debut as Lucy Romalotti, Daniel’s daughter, in January 2023. Prior to joining the cast of the soap, O’Briant was a regular on the Netflix comedy THE BIG SHOW and played the title role of Ella in the Apple+ series LIFE BY ELLA. She also appeared in the TV movie Crash & Burn and the Amazon Prime Original series THE TICK.
