Elizabeth Hendrickson Opens up About Being a First-Time Mom

Being a first-time mommy can be challenging at the best of times, but THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) admitted that delivering and raising an infant during the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic adds a whole other level of stress to things! “Thinking back to when I was just a few months [pregnant],” the new mom shared on Instagram with a pic of her tiny baby bump. “The world was looking a lot different. And a much safer place to welcome a new life.

“I’m sending love and support to all the mamas and especially the new mamas out there having to deliver their babies during this crazy time,” Hendrickson continued. “Being a first time is a lot. I love every minute of it. Every second. But there are still lots of new, scary, confusing, and sometimes really f’ing hard moments. Then add the hormones crashing. Then add the COVID-19 craziness and everything that comes with it. No visitors, no help, no doula, no lactation consultant, no mommy and me classes. Yes, I’m getting it all virtually, but human contact and support is also much different.”

Despite the specific challenges of raising her little girl while isolated at home with her husband, Rob Meder, Hendrickson is still dealing with the usual difficulties that afflict new mothers. “Breastfeeding has been such a challenge,” she confessed. “My milk hasn’t come in. I think the stress has a lot to do with it. Apparently, so does my age. Trying not to get hard on myself. It’s more pressure because I want to give her as much antibodies to build her immunity especially with all that’s going on right now.”

Hendrickson has been grateful for social media and the internet for helping her stay connected even while in isolation at home. “I have the most incredible support group/tribe of mamas around me day and night,” she declared. “You know who you are! Showing up for me in ways that I couldn’t ever imagine. So when I dip and fall they have brought me right back up. Listen, this is not an easy time for anyone right now. I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy. Please stay home. So we can all be joined together again and have a big massive hug. Feeling grateful. Feeling supported. Feeling like I need a hug and a nap.”

We’re also grateful for social media because it lets Hendrickson share beautiful photos of her newborn! For more from your favorite Y&R stars, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
