Aiden on General Hospital — Everything You Need To Know
Aiden Spencer on General Hospital has grown up on the soap but he’s had a few different faces, so it’s understandable that some fans might find themselves questioning his history, especially who his father is. Born in July of 2010, Aiden was played by a series of twins as an infant and toddler until Titus Jackson, the real-life son of Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky) took over the role from 2011-12. In August 2012, Jason David stepped into the part and portrayed Liz’s son until March 2021. In August of that year, GH once again recast the role of Aiden, this time with Enzo De Angelis, who played the boy up until May 1, 2024. With the May 2 episode, the role was being played by Tristan Riggs. Then, on Sept. 30, 2024, Aiden was once again recast, this time with actor Colin Cassidy.
When Elizabeth Webber got pregnant with Aiden, she had just broken up with Lucky Spencer because she was having an affair with his brother, Nikolas Cassadine. She tried to have a paternity test done, but as usually happens in Port Charles, the results were tampered with, this time by Helena Cassadine, to make her believe Nik was the father. After Aiden’s birth, the infant was kidnapped from the hospital by serial killer artist Franco to give to his own mother. Dante and Jason tracked down Aiden’s whereabouts and Lucky retrieved the child to return to Liz and Nikolas.
After Monica Quartermaine mentioned casually that Aiden looked like Lucky did when he was a baby, Liz got suspicious and had another DNA test performed and was stunned to learn that Lucky was actually Aiden’s dad. However, at the same time, her other son, Jake, was hit by a car and died. Due to the heartbreaking development, it was months before Liz finally revealed the truth. Lucky was happy, but a furious Nikolas planned to run away with Aiden until he thought better of it.
In November of 2011, Aiden was diagnosed with Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, an autoimmune disease, and a blood transfusion from his aunt Lulu Spencer helped him recover. A month later, Lucky left Port Charles, leaving Liz to raise her son on her own. The following year, Aiden caused drama for the family as his teacher, Willow Tait, informed Liz and Franco that the boy was having trouble in school and he was being bullied by his cousin, Charlotte. But it turns out the problems went much deeper than that.
Aiden was very withdrawn and uncommunicative, but Franco was finally able to get the kid to come out of his shell as he shared his love of baking. However, Jake informed his mom and Franco that they shouldn’t let Aiden share his baked goods with the kids at school because they’re calling him “Gayden.” Liz was upset and didn’t want to stifle her son’s personality. Even though she knew being gay had nothing to do with a love of baking, Liz vowed to support Aiden no matter what life he chose to lead.
Despite being kidnapped by Franco as an infant, Aiden became very close with his mother’s boyfriend and was happy when they tied the knot. But he was crushed when his stepfather was murdered in March 2021. And when his mother began to be haunted by memories of Franco, Aiden began to wonder if it was really Franco trying to contact them from the other side! (It wasn’t.)
Aiden wasn’t seen again until March 2023 when he joined the rest of the family in saying goodbye to big brother Cameron, who was going to college in California. He also joined the Halloween party at Kelly’s dressed as a pirate. Then, at Christmas, opened up to his mother about his crush on a student in his science class named Tobias.
When Jason returned from the dead in March 2024, Aiden informed his mother that Jake believed that Jason shot Dante and didn’t know what to think himself. Then Liz saw paint on her son’s backpack and though Aiden insisted it was just an accident in art class, she worried he might be being bullied again. Nothing really came of that and Aiden happily helped Sasha make lunch at the Quatermaine mansion. In June, he attended Gregory Chase‘s funeral with the rest of the family and later was upset to learn that his mother and Finn had broken up.
In October 2024, Aiden had to deal with his father’s return to Port Charles, but wasn’t going to make the first move.
