Stephen Nichols Returns to DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Patch is back! Stephen Nichols is returning to DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Steve Johnson! The actor said goodbye to fans shortly before his character was written out of the NBC soap back in August of 2018, but now he’s coming home to Salem! “Looking forward to my big brother coming home!” tweeted Matthew Ashford (Jack) when the news broke, to which Nichols replied: “I’ll be looking for you, Billy Jack!”
Although disappointed when Nichols exited DAYS, some of his fans hoped it would free him up to return to one of his other soap roles, like Stefan Cassadine on GENERAL HOSPITAL or Tucker McCall on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS (even though his GH character is technically dead). But instead, DAYS is bringing him back as Steve, a role he first began playing back in 1985.
The last time fans saw Steve, he had left town after having his sight restored and was in big trouble because the bionic eye Stefan helped him get had been used to record secure documents! Now it looks as though he’s been able to clear his name and will be back in Salem soon enough to pick up where he left off. He wasn’t particularly thrilled with Kayla for going behind his back to get him that electronic eye, but he’ll definitely have something to say to Stefan for getting him into all that trouble!
While no return air date has yet been announced, and while Nichols is reportedly already back at the set taping episodes, due to DAYS’ advanced production schedule, it could still be a while before we se Steve again on screen.
