Hunter King Returns to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!
Look out, Genoa City — Hunter King is coming back to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as Summer Newman in the episode airing on Tuesday, Jan. 29! The last time viewers saw the character was back in November of 2018 when she decided to take a job offer from Victor in Dubai. Of course, when Summer left town, she was caught up in a scandalous storyline where she’d slept with Billy not realizing he was just looking to get revenge on Phyllis, so there’s still plenty of unfinished business for her to deal with!
King reprised her role back in June of 2018 after not having been seen on Y&R since December of 2016, and immediately started stirring the pot, trying to seduce Kyle and Billy and causing no end of drama. Will she return a changed woman looking to make amends for the trouble she caused? Yeah, maybe not!
King took over the role of the SORAS-ed teen Summer in 2012, replacing the short-lived Lindsay Bushman. During her four years on the soap, she earned five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress, taking home the trophy twice in a row in 2014 and 2015. At the same time she was playing Summer, King was also appearing as Clementine in the CBS comedy LIFE IN PIECES, but when she was upped to series regular for the show’s second season, she dropped to recurring at Y&R. But now that she’s returned on contract, it appears that CBS has been able to work out a schedule where she can star on both shows.
Will anyone be happy to see Summer again? And how will she feel about Kyle’s relationship with Lola? Stay tuned to find out, and for more Y&R casting news, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
