Although some fans are worried that Jacob Young is leaving THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, it turns out that’s not actually the case. While he has definitely been seen less on screen as Rick Forrester, the actor has not left the show, but dropped to recurring status with the soap. “I want to take a moment to address the rumors that I’m currently off-contract,” he tweeted. “All true. I’m recurring and just starting to shoot a movie for Lifetime. I have been under contract for 21 years and this to me is a blessing. I can now have the time to pursue all my passions.”
Young joined the cast of B&B way back in 1997, and played Rick for two years, earning a Daytime Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor in 1999. The role was recast with Justin Torkildsen and Kyle Lowder, but Young reprised the role in 2011 and has been with the soap ever since. In between his B&B stints, Young played Lucky Spencer on GENERAL HOSPITAL (winning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor) and also JR Chandler on ALL MY CHILDREN, where he earned two more Emmy nominations, for Younger and then for Supporting Actor.

During his daytime career, Young has produced music, releasing a self-titled CD in 2001, and starred in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on Broadway in the role of Lumiere in the spring and summer of 2006. The performer has continued to be active in music, releasing new music earlier this year and planning to release an EP this spring or summer.
We’ll have more information on Young’s Lifetime movie as soon as it becomes available, but B&B fans can rest easy that Young is remaining with the soap, if only on a recurring basis. For more B&B casting news, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
