Jason Canela Announces He’s Leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
In February of 2018, Jason Canela made his debut as Arturo Rosales on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and while the Abby/Arturo pairing proved popular, it turns out he’d only signed on for one year, so his time on the soap is coming to an end. “When I signed my one-year contract with Y&R I was excited because for the first time in three years living in this city I was able to call a studio like Television City home,” the actor shared on Twitter. “Add to that the incredible people I’ve had the pleasure of working with who I’ve been lucky enough to create genuine relationships with like Peter Bergman (Jack), Melissa Ordway (Abby), Jordi Vilasuso (Rey), Sasha Calle (Lola), and Naomi Gonzales (Mia) just to name a few (sorry guys, but Peter is my favorite) I feel blessed to have been a part of something so special like the Y&R family.”
In addition to his castmates, Canela also made sure to give a shoutout to the talented people behind the scenes at the CBS soap. “I feel blessed to have been a part of something so special,” he tweeted. “I appreciate each and every single person that makes up part of the Y&R family! Our makeup team, our crew, our security! Without them, there is nothing. The team behind the camera is what makes it all worth it.”
Canela got his start in telenovelas like DONDE ESTA ELISA, and moved to English soaps with Y&R, so he can’t wait to see where his career takes him next. “It’s time to turn the page and see what beautiful stories I am blessed enough to be a part of next,” he expressed. “I want to send all my love and positive vibes to the Y&R fans who have been so welcoming since day one! Appreciate the love and no worries, the Rosales Family will still be cooking up some drama in Genoa City so keep looking out for them and showing them all the love they deserve!”
At this time, there are no details as to when Canela’s final episode will air or how Arturo will be written out of the storyline, so stay tuned. We’ll also be sure to keep you up to date on the actor’s future projects as he announces them. And for more Y&R casting news, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
