Fans of DAYS OF OUR LIVES were devastated when Daniel was killed off and his heart donated to Brady, and the doc’s portrayer, Shawn Christian, feels their pain! “I don’t know if I was glad to be dismembered and spread across Salem!” he jokes to Soaps In Depth. “I was like, ‘Clearly someone doesn’t want me coming back!’”
On a more serious note, Christian is grateful that he has been able to reprise the role, albeit in a spectral form and only briefly. “When I get on that set, I feel so loved and so grateful to have been in the trenches with these guys and girls who make this show tick,” he confesses. “I always leave with a smile on my face. It’s moving, I have to say.”

The actor is also grateful to have the chance to work with Arianne Zucker (Nicole) again. “It’s always emotional,” Christian admits. “Because I think she was also sad about the departure of the Daniel character because there was so much time invested. And then she’ll start crying and I’ll start welling up and then I’m like, ‘Wait a minute. I’m in heaven. There’s no crying in heaven!’”
While DAYS fans wait to see if Daniel is going to make another ghostly appearance in Salem, they can also catch Christian in the new series FAMOUS IN LOVE, airing on Freeform where he plays Alan Mills. “They really do a nice job of not just painting the glamour but also the heartache that comes with this business,” he says of the show biz drama. “And then how to navigate your own personal relationships and hang on to your integrity.”

While Christian says his character is heavily recurring, he teases that Alan plays a major role as the series goes on. “What’s beautiful about it is the plot just continues to get thicker and thicker and thicker,” he promises. “So I was even surprised every week when I got a chance to read it!”
