Actress Alice Hunter made her first appearance as Kerry Johnson on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS in the Oct. 31 episode, but the character remained a bit of a mystery even months later. “Ready to hit Genoa City!” she declared on Instagram when her casting was announced. “Making my mark on the number one legacy soap opera in the country . Truly honored to be portraying the intelligent, strong-willed, and big-hearted Kerry Jones on Y&R. Can’t wait to meet the talented cast, the loyal and loving fans, and get to work peeling back the layers of Ms. Jones’ history and her intentions… one… by… one.” (The character’s last name was changed from Jones to Johnson when she began filming.) However, Kerry’s time in Genoa City came to an end just five months later as Hunter has announced her exit.
Kerry was first introduced when Phyllis took over as the Jabot CEO and hired her to be the new chemist hoping to bring the company back to the forefront of the cosmetics industry. She very quickly become an integral part of the business, but also the Abbott family as Jack Abbott found himself smitten with the beautiful newcomer. While she was initially hesitant to get involved with him, Kerry has given in and even accepted his invitation to vacation in Bora Bora over the holidays!
However, upon their return, Kerry presented Jack with a one-of-a-kind scent just for him she called “Jack of Hearts” but also secretly eyed a syringe she had secreted away in her purse. Then, she told Jack she couldn’t have lunch with him because she had to work, but when he went to surprise her at the lab with a meal, he found it closed and wondered why she was lying to him. She later confessed the syringe is because she’s freezing her eggs so she doesn’t miss the chance to have children, which led Jack to suggest they weren’t a good match as he didn’t want any more children. The pair worked out their differences and seemed to be in a loving, stable relationship, but Kerry was actually playing Jack and Phyllis against each other while working for a mysterious third party who turned out to be Ashley Abbott! Kerry revealed her British accent and real name of Dominique Carroll to the stunned Abbotts as the truth behind Ashley’s sabotage was exposed. Before leaving, Kerry informed Jack her feelings for him were separate from her business with the family and invited him to join her in Paris, but he bitterly declined.
