Eric Braeden Is Taking a Month Off From THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Tags:

Fans are going to have to get used to a Victor-less Genoa City, at least for a while, because Eric Braeden is taking some time off from THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for the entire month of September! The actor has portrayed the character ever since his introduction back in 1980, so he’s due for a break — even an extended one such as this where he’s traveling all the way to Germany. But don’t worry, Braeden will be back to work at the Y&R studios when he returns in October!

“We take very few vacations in daytime because the show is on every week,” he told TV Insider. “Going for two weeks is just not worth it [when you add in] travel time and jet lag. It’s just not worth it. I’m going to visit relatives and friends while I’m there.”

There’s also a special reason why Braeden is returning to his home country. “It is the 60th anniversary of [my] winning the German Youth Championship,” he revealed. “I was javelin, discus, and shot put champion. I’m seeing some of my fellow athletes for the first time in 60 years!”

There has been no announcement as to how Y&R will write in Victor’s absence, whether he’ll take a business trip or simply not be seen for a few weeks. But with Victor stewing over Nick’s launch of his new company, Dark Horse, and Nikki attempting to keep J.T.’s death a secret, there’s plenty of juicy material for the Emmy winning actor to sink his teeth into upon his return from overseas.
