Y&R’s Camryn Grimes Reveals What She Probably Won’t Submit for Her Emmy Reel (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

For her work on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, Camryn Grimes has two Daytime Emmy Awards on her shelf. One, she earned in 2000 at the age of 10 for Outstanding Younger Actress for playing Cassie Newman, and the other she took home in 2018 for her Supporting Actress work as Mariah Copeland. Over the years, the actress has proven herself adept at both comedy and drama as the soap requires, but for this year’s Emmys, she knew what she probably wouldn’t be submitting to secure a nomination, and that’s any funny business!

“I think people are so used to giving awards to scenes that are high in drama that they don’t see the wealth and difficulty in doing comedy,” Grimes admitted to Soaps In Depth. “Comedy is sometimes harder than doing the drama! But most people submit a drama reel where everyone is crying!”

In fact, the redhead confided that last year, her Y&R co-star, Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) actually bucked the trend and “submitted a comedy reel that I thought was so brilliant! But it’s not typically what we’ve been doing or taught to submit. I don’t think that’s going to change, but I wish it would, because comedy is just as relevant, just as important, and takes just as much talent as drama!”

Well, whatever Grimes ended up submitting for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the 2019 race, her talent will no doubt shine through. Stay tuned when the list of nominees are revealed on Wednesday, March 20, to see if she’s among those vying for the trophy this year, and for more on your favorite Y&R stars, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
