Usher as Raymond on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL — Everything You Need to Know

Yes, that was Usher playing Raymond on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. The R&B superstar joined the cast of the soap on a recurring basis to play the role for almost a dozen episodes from June to August of 1998. However, when the character returned to B&B in 1999 to wrap up the storyline, the role was recast with actor Karim Prince.

Raymond King was a friend of Amber Moore’s who had become a singer and she invited him to perform at Insomnia. They reconnected over their school days and ended up getting drunk and spending the night together at his hotel. When Raymond later returned from his tour, he tracked down Amber to reveal that while she didn’t remember it, they had slept together that night. Amber was horrified because she had thought she was pregnant with Rick Forrester‘s baby and now it might be Raymond’s!

C.J. Garrison blasted Amber for not telling Rick and reminded her that when the baby was born, it would be quite clear who the father was. Eventually, he confided the truth to Darla Einstein and they tracked down Raymond to warn him he might be about to become a father. Raymond confronted Amber and tried to get her to call off her wedding to Rick. But she didn’t, and left town to stay with her family for a while. As the truth about Amber’s potential babydaddies spread around Los Angeles, Amber gave birth in Furnace Creek, but the child was stillborn.

Amber’s cousin, Becky, had also just given birth and was giving up her child for adoption, so Amber’s mother got the midwife to agree to let Amber have it. Unaware of the switch, Rick was thrilled to be a father, but not when Brooke revealed what had happened between Amber and Raymond. Of course, that was nothing compared to what happened when Becky later wanted her baby back and the truth about that came out!
