Fans who have missed seeing Doug Davidson as Paul Williams on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS have been enjoying interacting with the actor on social media, specifically Twitter, but now it seems he’s going to be stepping away from that particular platform for a time.
“I’m going to take a break from Twitter soon,” he announced on Nov. 21. “I’ll send stuff before I go. I keep dreaming about the show and can’t find my script. Well, a nightmare. Let’s see if my absence from here changes my dreams!”
Unfortunately, while Davidson has enjoyed chatting with his fans on Twitter, the conversation mainly revolves around how much they miss seeing him on Y&R and how much they want him back. Davidson joined the cast back in May 1978, making him the soap’s longest-running cast member, although in recent years his screen time has diminished. The last time viewers saw Paul on screen was back in November 2020 when he was investigating Chance’s shooting.
When one fan suggested that he just make a separate Twitter account, he declined and reconfirmed his desire to step away for a while. “You all are fabulous,” Davidson reassured his loyal supporters. “It’s just all Y&R. It was such a major part of my life that I think I need some separation from it to move on.”
Davidson also has an Instagram account where he posts occasionally, so fans can continue following him there while they wait for him to return to Twitter one day. And naturally, you can keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for updates because we’ll be sure to let you know when he’s back!
