Jordi Vilasuso Shares an Update on His Wife’s Surgery

Tags:

On Sept. 8, daytime vet Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Rey, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) shared that he and his wife, Kaitlin, were expecting their third daughter after two devastating miscarriages. But along with the happy news came the couple’s confession that Kaitlin’s pregnancy was high-risk, as her body was struggling to hold on to the baby, and she would be having a medical procedure called a cervical cerclage to help hold the fetus in utero. The Vilasusos returned to Instagram on Sept. 13 with a status report, and thankfully it was good news!

“We made it to surgery day!” wrote Kaitlin, who was at risk of going into premature labor before her procedure. “Thankful for each and every prayer. Please keep them coming. We feel so covered in love.”

In addition to his run on Y&R, Vilasuso is known for his roles as GUIDING LIGHT’s Tony (which won him a Daytime Emmy Award in 2003), ALL MY CHILDREN’s Griffin, and DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Dario. After saying goodbye to their daughters — Riley, 10, and Everly, 7, who seemed to have been back at home with Kaitlin’s sister, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: ORIGINAL SIN star Bailee Madison — the Vilasusos headed to their local hospital. “Say a prayer for baby girl,” she asked her followers.

Later, Kaitlin jumped onto her Instagram Stories once again to give her followers an update from her hospital bed post-surgery. “All went well, for the most part,” she confessed. “I think it was a little more difficult than [the doctor] was thinking that it was going to be. But he was able to do it, and he feels really confident that it’s going to hold.”

Kaitlin shared a sweet shot of her baby bump lovingly embraced by the hands of family members.Instagram

Kaitlin added that the entire procedure was “really intense,” both emotionally and physically. “I wish I didn’t experience all of it so vividly, but it is what it is. And I’m just grateful that baby girl is okay so far. And I’m praying that it holds. They just tried to keep me here, but I don’t want to stay. I’m not having contractions, I’m just in pain I think from this surgery itself.”

Turning the camera to Vilasuso, who was seated in a chair in her hospital room, Kaitlin asked her husband how he was doing. “So happy that we are done, and this is a success,” he admitted. “I want to get you home, I want to get you comfy, I want to get you fed. You haven’t eaten all day. I think this is the longest you’ve ever gone without eating.”

As is common with most medical procedures, Kaitlin likely wasn’t able to eat or drink anything from midnight the night before. And considering that her surgery was scheduled for Wednesday evening, that was a long time for a pregnant woman to go without food! “I think so too,” she laughed. “Bailee has Outback at home waiting for us.”

Hopefully, the Vilasusos were able to eat that yummy takeout last night! And we hope that all goes well with the rest of Kaitlin’s pregnancy!
