Matt Miller on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS — Everything You Need to Know

Victor’s brother, Matt Miller, hasn’t been on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for years, so it’s understandable if some newer viewers aren’t aware of who this character is. The character first appeared in 1985, played by Robert Parucha until 1987. In 2003, the actor reprised the role, but when the character returned for another visit in 2018, Richard Gleason stepped in. However, when Matt came back to Genoa City in 2020, Parucha was back in his shoes.

Matt is the younger brother of Victor Newman, whose birth name was Christian Miller. After their father abandoned the family, Matt and Victor were both given up for adoption, and in 1983, Matt journeyed to Genoa City to reconnect with his sibling. In the hopes of getting Ashley Abbott away from Victor, Nikki Newman set her and Matt up, but it didn’t quite work out. When Victor abandoned a pregnant Ashley to go back to Nikki, Matt offered to marry her, but Ashley opted to terminate the pregnancy instead.

After leaving town in 1985, Matt returned in 2003 to alert Victor to the fact that their father, Albert Miller, was actually still alive, but not for long as he was on his death bed. Then, in 2018, when Jack Abbott was searching for his real father, Matt confirmed that the mystery man in a photo of Dina’s was Albert. Victor was aghast that Jack could be his brother, and Matt convinced him to take a DNA test to prove it one way or the other. (It was later revealed that Ashley had lied and Jack really was John Abbott’s son.)

Matt returned again in 2020 to help Victor celebrate the 50th anniversary of Newman Enterprises and his visit was relatively drama-free (for him, at least!). Stay tuned to Y&R to see if he makes another appearance someday.
